Course Overview This qualification will prepare
you for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the
teaching and learning environment in a school setting. It covers areas such as
how to support the well-being of a child or young person and also child and
young person development.
You will complete three units consisting of:
• Understand schools
as organisations • Understand how to keep children and young people
healthy, safe and well • Understand how to communicate with children,
young people and adults
Delivery Method This is a distance (online)
learning course. A range of teaching and learning strategies will be
employed using Google classroom.
Homework You will be expected to work on
activities at home between 5 – 5.5 hours per week, as directed by your
tutor.
Assessment The course is continuously assessed by
your tutor using written assignments.
Progression If you successfully complete the Level
1 Preparing to Work in Schools qualification, you may wish to progress on
to:
Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (placement
required) Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism Level 2 Certificate
in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges

Cost This course is free for most. Fees will be
discussed during your initial contact as you must be assessed for eligibility.
