Award in Personal and Social Skills

Content & Overview
This course aims to support your personal growth and give you the skills to live as independently as possible, so you can play an active role in your own community and develop a fulfilling social life.

The course has 6 credits. You will choose different units with your tutor.
These may include:

·Being part of a group
·Healthy Eating
·Using Social and Leisure Facilities

Suitable for
Adults preparing for employment, independent living, further learning or adult life in general.

Entry requirements
You will need to come and meet a tutor to see if this is the right course for you.
You need some English skills to write in a workbook.
Your 19th birthday must have been on or before 31 August 2024.
You will need to do an induction.

How will this course benefit me?
Upon the completion of this qualification, you should have a greater understanding of the skills required to live as independently as possible, you will have learnt importance of playing an active role in your community and you should have developed more fulfilling social life.

Attendance and Learning Assessment
You need to come to class every week. You must be on time and stay for the full lesson.
You must try your best each lesson.

You will be internally assessed via completion of a portfolio of evidence demonstrating how you meet the qualification criteria set by the Awarding Body. This will include tutor assessment, witness statements, tutor observations, real work products.

There will be no formal examination.

Course Delivery
This is a face-to-face classroom-based course with live lessons and set teaching times.

You should be willing to join in with class discussions and activities.
