Introduction to Becoming a Teaching
Assistant

Course Overview This two hour workshop is designed
for adults who would like to know how they can begin a career working as a
teaching assistant in a school or college.
We will consider and discuss the following:
• What skills do I need to become a teaching assistant? • What
does the role of being a teaching assistant involve? • How do I arrange
a placement with DBS in a school? • What courses/qualifications do I
need?
Suitable for Anyone wishing to gain knowledge of
the role, the skills needed and the required qualifications for working in a
school or college.
Delivery Method This is a in person two hour
workshop delivered at Ashby Community Hub.
Progression route/Further study Guidance is given
throughout the workshop regarding opportunities and careers. You could progress
on to:
NCFE Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools NCFE Level 2 Supporting Teaching
and Learning Functional Skills English Functional Skills Maths
Cost This course is free for most.
