Course Description

NCFE Level 2 Certificate In Supporting Teaching And Learning - Blended Learning

IMPORTANT: Entry requirements:

To gain a place on this course you will need the following requirements before the course starts:

1. A placement in a school or college for 1 day a week, or 2 half days per week. The placement setting will need to provide a letter confirming your placement. Or a release letter, if you are employed by the school/college, confirming you can attend all classes. Attending ALL classes is a mandatory requirement of the course.

2. An enhanced DBS (please note these can take up to 12 weeks to obtain)

3. At least Level 1 English or a Grade D at GCSE

Additional entry requirements. You must be 19+ on 31st August 2025 to join this course

This is a blended course which means we will be offering face to face sessions on a twice monthly basis at Ashby Community Hub. You will also spend time working at home to complete assignments on Google Classroom. Please note, after an initial assessment, you will be placed in a class depending on your learning needs or prior experience.

What will happen next?

After applying you will be contacted by a member of the TA team. You will be allocated an onboarding session at the start of September (see below) for you to bring all your evidence, as detailed above, and meet the tutor. At this session, IF you have/met all the necessary requirements you be offered a place on the course, given a learner email and take part in the remainder of the session.

Wednesday 3rd September at 6.00 - 7.30pm

Course Content and Overview

The course provides you with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children.

During the course you will be expected to produce a portfolio of evidence showing knowledge and competence in a range of subjects including:

• children and young people’s development
• supporting positive behaviour
• health and safety
• safeguarding
• professional relationships

You will also need to:

• be observed in your workplace
• produce a display
• complete a weekly learner journal

This course is aimed at people working or volunteering in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools. This is also suitable for people working in colleges who may need a qualification to progress within their career.

Course fees

There is course fee, to be advised, however, it may be FREE of charge, depending on your personal circumstances. To be eligible, evidence of benefit status or low wage is required in accordance with ESFA Funding Rules. If you fail to complete the course, you may have to pay the full cost.
