Course Description
ESOL World of Work - Tailored
Learning
Content and Overview: This short
5-week course will help you gain English language skills for understanding the
world of work and starting to look for work. It supports confidence, vocabulary
building, and communication in everyday work settings. You will learn about the
world of work, work skills, local jobs and workplaces and how to apply for
jobs.
Week 1: Introducing Work Week 2: Skills and Everyday
Work Week 3: Local Jobs and Workplaces Week 4: Understanding Job Adverts
Week 5: Applying for a Job
Delivery method: Face to
face.
Suitable for: Learners looking
for work and/or referred from the Job Centre.
Entry requirements: • You
must be aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025 • You must have the right to
live and work in the UK • You should be assessed as needing to improve
your English language skills through an initial assessment that places you at
Pre-Entry, Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 in ESOL • Low-income earners,
unemployed learners, or those on certain benefits (e.g., Universal Credit) will
be eligible for full funding

confirm eligibility, as this course is funded by the Department of
Education. We will require to see, proof of ID, proof of your address, and
evidence that you receive benefits or have an income of £25,750 gross or
below.
YOU MUST BRING THIS EVIDENCE WITH YOU WHEN YOU START THE
COURSE OR WORKSHOP. Alternatively, you can also bring these to be seen by the
Business Admin Team, Room F09 at Ashby Community Hub, prior to your course or
workshop starting.
You must be 19+ on 31 August 2025 and a UK resident.
