& Overview
This course aims to support your
personal growth and give you the skills to live as independently as
possible, so you can play an active role in your own community and
develop a fulfilling social life.
The qualification is unit based
and you will be expected to complete 4 or 5 units to make up the 13 credits
required. The units chosen will be determined by yourself and the tutor. The
units you can choose from include Being Part of a Group, Healthy Eating, Using
Social and Leisure Facilities and more.
Suitable
for
Adults preparing for employment, independent living, further
learning or adult life in general.
Entry requirements
You will be required to attend
an initial assessment at a Community Hub to determine your eligibility for the
course.
Your English must also be to a standard to enable you to complete
any written assignments.
You must be aged 19+ on 31 August 2022 to join this
course.
You must complete an online induction, which includes online safety,
before you begin a course with us.
How will this course benefit me?
Upon the
completion of this qualification, you should have a greater understanding of the
skills required to live as independently as possible, you will have learnt
importance of playing an active role in your community and you should have
developed more fulfilling social life.
Attendance and Learning Assessment
You will need
to attend your class session on time and stay for the whole session. You will
also need the time and commitment required to complete any set tasks and
maintain attendance of at least 90%.
You will be internally assessed via completion of a portfolio of evidence
demonstrating how you meet the qualification criteria set by the Awarding Body.
This will include tutor assessment, witness statements, tutor observations, real
work products.
You must complete 13 credits of which a minimum of 8 credits must be at Entry
1. Remaining credits can be achieved at or above the level of the qualification.
There will be no formal examination.
Course Delivery
This is a face-to-face
classroom-based course with live lessons and set teaching times.
You should be willing to join in with class discussions and activities.

Additional information
You will need to bring
paper and a pen with you. You may also find it useful to have a folder to keep
your work in.
Places on this course are limited. Further courses will be
scheduled throughout the academic year and will operate waiting lists. We
recommend you register your interest early, as this course is very popular.
