NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health in Early Years

Content and overview
This course will help you gain an understanding of mental health in young children in the early years (from conception to 5 years old) and the role of the Early Years Practitioner in supporting children's mental health and wellbeing. You will develop knowledge which would support progression to further qualifications and into relevant employment in health and social care or education sectors.

The course consists of 3 mandatory units:-

Unit 1: Understand mental health for young children in the early years.

Unit 2: Understand the significance of attachment and adverse childhood experiences for young children in the early years.

Unit 3: Understand the role of the Early Years Practitioner in supporting mental health and wellbeing for young children in the early years.

Delivery method
There will be an one hour Google Classroom induction session, followed by 7 face to face sessions at Ashby Community Hub.

All sessions run from 5.30 to 8.30 pm at Ashby Community Hub.

Remaining course materials will be accessed on Google Classroom. You are expected to complete three written assignments  at a time convenient to you to meet the deadlines. You will also be expected to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

Suitable for
The Early Years Workforce who work within the Early Years Foundation Stage, including school settings, childminders and family support staff.

Progression route
NCFE level 2 Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health, NCFE Level 2 Understanding Autism, NCFE Level 2 Understanding Behaviour that Challenges, Solihull Approach training.

Additional information
You will not need a laptop with you at the sessions, a pen and paper/notebook will suffice.
