Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness

Content and overview
The Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of mental health, as well as develop your practical and emotional skills; to help you to progress to a rewarding career in the health and social care, counselling, or education sectors. It's also a great choice for absolutely anyone - from any industry or background – who wants to develop their understanding of mental health and the causes of mental distress, and gain a basic understanding about the topic; for their own personal or professional reasons.

This course will raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties; dispel some of the myths and misconceptions frequently linked to mental health issues; and develop your knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.

Delivery Method
This course is completed via blended learning. You will be required to complete the Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness learner workbook (hard copy) and an individual learning plan (ILP).

Suitable for:
The qualification is appropriate for a wide range of people with an interest in raising their own understanding of mental health issues. It would complement study in a range of areas, eg citizenship, PSHE, healthcare, social care, counselling or public services. It may also be particularly useful for those working within the voluntary and community sector and for others whose role calls for interaction with the general public in their day-to-day work.

Entry requirements
You must be aged 19+ on 31 August 2023 and UK resident for at least 3 years. This course is exclusive to Healthwatch NL staff.

Course fee
Registration fee is £35.00, however this fee can be waved depending on your situation (if you are on receipt of benefits, on low wage, etc).
